What I Learned From The Illness From HELL… There’s a Lesson In Everything!

…and how it can help you when you are sick AAGO, tired AAGO, or just bored AAGO, so you can find inspiration. (*AAGO = As All Get Out)

I know you’ve probably wondered where I’ve been… thanks for your prayers and emails of concern 😃

The month of March was a hellish place for me and my family. My wife was ill, but seemed to recover much quicker than I did.

I was so sick, I couldn’t even get out of bed some days.

At first I thought it was just allergies due to the season change, so I tried to go about my routine:

  • I was at the finish line of the 7-week Coaching Intensive with a few clients and had a lot of work I needed to get done since I’d planned to take the first three-months of this year to help launch a few new businesses.
  • I had also committed to some leadership and marketing training for me and the team, which was more intensive than I’d imagined – I was on conference calls and Zoom meetings for 3-6 hours a day for, what was to be 5 days, but turned into 9.
  • My business was also going through a transition in our marketing, processes, systems, product and service offerings that will help us serve our clients better.

All of these were important tasks I had assigned myself and knew I needed to get done. But, I could hardly function… how was I going to do any of this in the shape I was in?

The longer the days and weeks went the more my head was spinning and my body aching.

After a few days, and into the first week I was done! My body totally shut down and I was bed ridden for several days. Not eating… Barely able to get to the rest room some days… This demon illness turned into three weeks of mental and physical hell!

CRAP! I’m sick, I said. And I rarely ever get sick. Tired! Weary! Overworked! BUT NEVER MEDICALLY ILL!! WTW!

And you know us men, we believe we are dying when we get sick! (can’t take no pain and can’t do anything for ourselves 🥲) We want to me pampered…

I am so thankful for my wife, she never makes me feel bad when I need to be taken care of. She went right to work and started pumping me with every herd and natural remedy known to us and them some.

My Rabbi even made me some homemade chicken soup (that Jewish penicillin), which was the BOMB! (By the way, he can really cook… that’s why he’s called the Gourmet Rabbi).

But, after several days of not being able to shake it, I knew that my immune system had taken a major hit, because I’ve never felt this way before and could always bounce back after a day or so of some rest and a few extra doses of my herbal routing.

Once I got my immune system back up and running, it was just a matter of getting the proper rest and returning to a normal sleep cycle for me.

Well that turned into almost a month that was supposed to be spent catching up on some work, launching a few new clients businesses, and chilling by the pool, but instead was 24 days of migraines, coughs, sore throat and body aches. OH, and a pile of Kleenex to the ceiling 🤧

Thankfully, a few weeks ago (fourth week of March) I was finally able to sit at my desk and work for a few hours at a time (my brain loses focus about every 15 seconds, due to this demon illness).

And as of last week (first week of April) I am feeling so much better and my wife and I was able to go out of town for our blessed 38th anniversary (although I slept most of the time, I did manage to go out with her several times). I love her so much and don’t know what I would do without here in my life. 💐

But as someone who is constantly looking for a lesson in everything I go through, I wanted to pass a few lessons I learned along to you:

  1. Even when you’re sick AAGO, tired AAGO, or just bored AAGO, you can find inspiration. (*As All Get Out*)

While my brain couldn’t think straight, I spent several hours watching things that inspired me and kept my hopes and dreams ignited. I am a Trekki, so I caught up on episodes of Star Trek: Picard, where they were in a free-fall because of a bad decision… yea my health declined due to a bad decision (Commander Riker’s recovery from the free-fall was so freaking inspiring).

  1. Residual Income matters and is necessary for a sustainable and stable business.

There are a lot of people who depend on this business I’ve created. I have amazing back office support, and the hottest and sweetest wife in the world. I also have several dear clients who are in transitions in their lives and businesses’ who rely on me to help them through it, and the more stable my business is the easier it is on everyone around me. I thank God today that I get to be the person others can lean on, even when I’m sick in bed. I hope you are building something that can do the same for the people you love.

  1. Every day is a blessing, and I need to give everything I have to make the days count.

This one might seem a little dramatic. But let’s be real, I’m a dude, and when I’m sick I think I’m dying. And as I watched the episodes of Picard, stories of their legendary heroics were being told all across the ship and their crew knew they were in the best hands — they had a legacy of heroics — to come out of this. I couldn’t help but ask: what is my legacy, and am I doing everything I can to make sure that if I died my lessons would be passed on???

Here we are in the middle of April and my team didn’t miss a beat! Except for a few emails here and there, so sorry about that 🙏 and thank you for your grace.

Our emails will be back in your inbox again shortly, better and more informative than ever!

By the way, in those short days between the end of March and beginning of April we:

  • Completed the 7-week Coaching Intensive with those who signed up and we launched one new client product and service, with a second one in draft.
  • Completed the leadership and marketing training and positioned our team and business for the next level of growth.
  • Completed the first phase of the marketing, processes and systems transitions needed to relaunch our product and service offerings to better serve our clients.

We have been working in the launch lab preparing some exciting new transformation opportunities just for you and they will help you in your journey toward living your purpose driven life. So keep an eye out for them 👀

What I learned from the illness from HELL…

That even when you are sick AAGO, tired AAGO, or just bored AAGO, you can find inspiration, motivation and strength to get it done and do more in less time that you would have imagined.

If you have the health and strength to read this email today, be thankful.

But don’t stop there…

Ask yourself what you’re doing today to be inspired, to create residual income, and to leave a lasting legacy!!!!!

To you I wish Life, Health & Blessings!

Shalom,
~DrB.
